The Moray Firth Trail is not a continuous route, but a network of existing paths and trails around some 470 miles / 750 kms of coastline - from the wild northern tip of the UK mainland by John o’ Groats to the fertile lowlands of Moray. Spectacular Highland scenery, great coastal walks and interesting things to see and do for all the family - the Moray Firth Trail looks set to become part of our “natural health service”!
The Moray Firth Trail is part of the North Sea Trail - an exciting partnership between twenty-six regions in six European countries that share a North Sea heritage. Visitors can explore diverse coastal walks, landscapes and traditions in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, and find many common cultural and historical links.
The well established “Moray Coast Trail” – some 50 miles between Forres/Findhorn and Cullen on the south shore of the Firth - is the first local section to be officially signposted as part of the North Sea Trail.
The Moray Firth Trail also links in to other waymarked routes –part of the Great Glen Way starting in Inverness and the Speyside Way in Moray.
